The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that Doug Gross joined the Army during the war in 1942 with plans to become a paratrooper, but instead was assigned to become an artilleryman. Now, 75 years after he enlisted, Gross celebrated Veterans Day on Saturday by making his first jump from an airplane at Triangle North Executive Airport in Louisburg.

Police ask citizens to be on the lookout for Watson, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. Watson was last seen 963 Vaiden Rd in Louisburg wearing a dark colored jacket, brown shirt, blue jeans and red and white sneakers.

She was jailed on $1,500 bond pending a court hearing Nov. 27. a Mamadou Saliou, 34, of 2 McCausland Place, Gaithersburg, Maryland, was cited Oct. 24 with possession of marijuana. He has a court hearing Jan. 18. a Simple possession of a controlled substance was reported Oct. 24 on the 1400 block of East Andrews Avenue, Henderson.

He was jailed on $20,000 bond pending a court hearing Oct. 23. a Aboubakar S. Bamba, 22, of 4326 Eileen Court, Woodbridge, was arrested Oct. 4 and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed gun and possession of a stolen firearm. a Shykiem J. Forney, 20, of 229 35th Ave., Hickory, was charged Oct. 4 with simple possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute a controlled substance.
